Para atlet yang terlibat disebut cheerleader. Cheerleading berasal dari Amerika Serikat, dan tetap menjadi kegiatan terutama Amerika, dengan 1,5 juta peserta diperkirakan pada semua bintang pemandu sorak. Presentasi pertumbuhan cheerleader sebagai olahraga ke khalayak global telah dipimpin oleh awal 1997 dari siaran kompetisi pemandu sorak oleh ESPN International dan rilis di seluruh dunia dari film 2000 Bawa Aktif. Karena sebagian untuk ini paparan terakhir, sekarang ada sekitar 100.000 peserta yang tersebar di seluruh bagian dunia di negara-negara termasuk Australia, Kanada, Cina, Kolombia, Finlandia, Perancis, Jerman, Jepang, Belanda, Selandia Baru dan Kerajaan Inggris.

Teddy Bear adalah sejenis boneka beruang untuk anak-anak. Namanya berasal dari Theodore Roosevelt, Presiden Amerika Serikat ke - 26 yang nama panggilannya adalah "Teddy" dan senang berburu beruang. Konon suatu hari di Hotel Colorado di Glenwood Springs, Colorado Roosevelt kembali dari perburuan yang tidak berhasil dan pegawai hotel memberinya boneka beruang tersebut. Ketika Roosevelt memberikan boneka itu kepada anaknya Alice, ia memberinya nama Teddy. Teddy Bear Museum pertama dibuka di Petersfield, Hampshire pada 1984.
